my 4th day of farm camp

my 4th day of farm camp started out by me feeding my goat.but i thought my goats twin was my goat so i ended up feeding my goats twin.then since it was really wet we couldnt ride the horses, so we got to put a saddle on a horse by ourselves. after ashley showed us, of course. then we put the bridle on the horse.then it was time for chores. we were supposed to do fenceline, which is where you go around the whole fence and look for any holes or scratches but instead we did bee work again. then we had an angora goat fiber lesson. we got to feel the fiber curly and straight. it was fun.afterwards we got to grate soap. it was fun. then we got to milk our goats. today was one of the days when candy wasnt mean. it was fun.

goats info

i just learned my goats birthdays and tatoos.

my 3rd day of farm camp

my 3rd day of farm camp started with me giving my goat some milk. but my goat wouldnt take the milk unless allie would feed it. but then she finally took it. i went horsebackriding and it was fun. i rode patches and i got to steer it by myself and ashley didnt have to walk right beside me. it was fun. i hadd to do goat showing as 1 of my chores. it was kinda fun. i had to get my milking goat (candy) and i had to walk her around in a circle and when the judge said to stop, we have to take our goats and put their front hooves together equally and spread the back hooves apart equally. it was hard but fun. when meridith was the judge, my goat won. it was awesome.aftewards we had a bee lesson. we had to go across the street to this ladies' house to see a garden. we learned that without bees we wouldnt have squash or cucumbers. bees are very important.we also got to see bees in their natural habitat.then we had to do some stuff with angoa fiber. we took fiber and carfully put it in a bucket, then we had to bring it to another bucket and another and another and another. and to add to that, the water in the bucket was super hot.

my first day at farm camp

My day started off by feeding our baby goats. My goats' name is Sprite. it is really cute. it really likes milk. After feeding my goat, you could choose to either ride horses or do blacksmithing. i chose horseback riding. we got to brush the horses. then we got to ride them! Then we had to clean out egg boxes. we had to take the hay out of the boxes that the chickens lay eggs in. but when we opened the gate, a huuuuuuge chicken came running out and i screamed. Then we had to separate cream. it took a looooooooooooooooooooong time. then it was blog time. We are about to do soapmaking and then we are milking goats. i cant wait. I'll write after i finish. I'm back. Soapmaking is fun. my soap is gonna be shaped as a horse. its cool. milking a goat is sooooooo awesome. you squeeze the top of the utter, then you squeeze the other part. but you have to watch out. sometimes the goat might try to put his/her leg/. i also went on the zipline. it was awesome.

SonRidge Farm

I will be attending a 4-H Farm Camp in August.
While there I will learn things from tacking up and riding a horse...

to learning about processing Angora Goat Fiber.

I will also be assigned a dairy goat; which I will be responsible for milking, feeding, everyday care & even learn how to show her.

I will learn how to make blacksmith items in a forge

and even make cheese, butter, and ice cream. I'll learn about bees and get to make my own beeswax lip balm.

I'm going to have so much fun that I can't wait for the week to start. I will even be keeping my own blog of the week and updating it each day. Please follow my blog so you can see all the things I'm doing and learning. We can even come to family day on the farm...for free! I know that I'll want to introduce all my family to each of the animals on the farm.
